Obvious Reasons You Should Remove a Tree

• The tree is dead.
• The tree is dying – if you look, the upper portions of the tree may be missing leaves, or the branches are dying back, or the trunk is showing signs of decay.
• The tree is growing too close to your home, power lines, or other structures.

Not So Obvious Reasons to Remove a Tree

• The tree has structure or interior damage – usually from insects or an animal.
• The tree has formed a bad crotch. If the fork of a tree is great than 45 degrees, the tree is considered weak.
• The tree has become too large and will create damage if it falls or drops branches.
• The tree is in the way of construction and will become fatally wounded by heavy machinery.
• Disease or insect infestation – which can also spread to other nearby trees.
• Too many trees crowding an area of the property. Trimming or removal may ensure the health of the remaining trees.
